e-Labs

  • e-Labs issues tracking page (Google Doc)
  • e-Labs successfully compiled on i2u2-dev-24 after accommodating major API change in Java 11
  • New dev server i2u2-dev-24 now has public IP and is online: https://dev-24.i2u2.org (but not yet serving anything)

Cosmic

  • Began ordering parts and setting up kits for Cosmic Watch for Summer 2025 workshops at centers
    • Combining orders for scintillator (Eljen) and boards (PCB express) with Colorado State outreach program - 32 for us, 2 for them
    • Scintillators ordered Mon 28 Apr: takes longest
    • CW workshop on offer.
  • International Muon Week 1-page reports are coming in and being posted to the website
  • CME efforts: UIC students drafted a paper on CR rates for the last 5 most intense CMEs; next Japan-US meeting on April 12th
  • Pyramid display great on simulated data, however, we now have some test files.
    • Data files need run headers and readout hardware needs addresses we've agreed to.
    • Event structure from 6 CAEN readout boxes must be built via hardware (Collector module under testing) or software (new decoder for display).
    • Detector 1 is on the way to Mexico City

CMS
  • Past but still useful (?):
    • TM: There is a Zenodo record of the masterclass files: https://zenodo.org/records/15153860; if there are citable software records and datasets we have perhaps we can make a QN commonity in Zenodo
  • Now that IMC is over, we can turn to improvements and other CMS efforts:
    • Improve CIMA - consult just concluded with Notre Dame ESC:
      • Cursor or Co-Pilot AI assistance
      • Intern assistance
      • CRC folks very helpful
    • Make sure iSpy in updated on ND server.
    • New ways to use python notebooks.
    • More? Will consult LHC fellows...likely 20 or 29 May
    • TPM: I have a handle on the 4lepton events from 2016, see https://github.com/QuarkNet-HEP/cms-masterclass-scripts for progress

Neutrino

  • Neutrino session in IPPOG: ProtoDUNE, MINERvA, NOvA
  • May 21: Andrew Furmanski, U of Mn physicist, will be joining the Neutrino fellow monthly meeting to answer questions about MicroBooNE in preparation for a new DAP activity
