Meeting Notes for 6 December
Present: Senem, Joel, Mark, Sudha, Liz, Ken, Shane
quarknet.org
- Senem will work through the remaining website tasks throughout the month. She'll contribute documentation for each item so we can resolve similar problems for ourselves in the future.
- Sudha thinks the numbering issue for the Data Portfolio is the result of a known bug in Drupal 7. Senem will investigate.
Cosmic
- Mark estimates about ~20 registrants from QuarkNet for International Cosmic Day. Mark uploaded data, and Ken participated in a videoconference. Ken notes that Raul, a mentor, had some success encouraging his teachers to participate and suggests that we should encourage more mentors to do the same for Cosmic Week in the spring.
- Mark is working with the Hawaii group on large shower reconstruction. He got a copy of Adam's Jupyter Notebook working, and progress is active using Sudha's Eclipse post-processing code as a basis.
- A new potential analysis is in the works: Jeff Rodriguez and Helio are collaborating on a copper-coil magnet technique for measuring the (g-2) of the muon with expected accuracy of a few percent. Mark notes that this is a great project with a great connection to Fermilab
CMS
Tom sent updates by email:
- We have a list of H to 4l candidate events from 2012 that are available to the public. So far there are around 20 events. I have extracted almost half of them towards making csv and event display files.
- The current date for the open data release is Dec 14 (TBC)
